William’s Turkey Day 5K, featuring William’s Mile

KEEP Active Virginia Beach and Onelife Fitness invite you and your family to join us on Thanksgiving morning to help raise money for William Yancey Jr!!! Please read the letter from William below for some background on his story:

Hello, my name is William Yancey. I am 7 years old.  Despite my challenges, I am strong, I am a fighter and I will prevail! I was born small and mighty with a diagnosis that is long, complicated, and has big words that are hard to spell. The fact is, I have cerebral palsy. 17 surgeries later I am a happy boy who loves to play ball, go to the beach, ride my new adaptable bike, and play in the kids club at Onelife Fitness. Although I am not able to walk on my own yet, I have a super cool yellow scooter with 6″ black wheels that gets me anywhere quickly! I have a walker that I use as well, but I would much rather have a hand to hold when I am walking. I would love for you to join me on Thanksgiving morning at my 2013 William’s Turkey Day 5K.Together with all my friends from Ocean Lakes Elementary, my teachers past and present, my therapists, Team Hoyt VB and many more we will raise funds for my therapy sessions. I have not walked across the finish line of William’s Mile without assistance yet and that is my goal this year. I will achieve this. I will prevail!!! Peace and blessings!
